Announcing.....

...The formation of Second Saturday Studio!

What: An art and handmade retail space for local artists to come together and sell their work!

Where: 213 W. Arch Street in downtown Searcy, AR 72143

When: The SECOND SATURDAY of each month, 9 AM TO 5 PM

If you are interested in joining us, please send a short bio and five photos of work that best represents what you will be showing and selling. The artists will be juried, as we are limited on space! There will be a monthly fee of $50-$75 per artist (depending on participation) and a six-month commitment is required. All artists will be given a specific amount of space (once again depending on participation) and will receive 90% of their sales proceeds, less any credit card fees. You need not be present on the appointed Saturday, however you are encouraged to! The 10% SSS keeps will help to cover advertising materials and studio supplies. We want this to be a great success and grow into something big! As a participating artist, you will have a vote in any changes that are made at the end of the six month period. We look forward to hearing from you. We are ready to get started, so e-mail us today!

Kelly VanHook and Micah Holden

Please send bio and photos to kelly@searcyhomes.

Ok.....It's Official.....

I am completely addicted to photography!! I think I have taken thousands of pictures since I received my new camera for my birthday. I am probably driving everyone insane. I know I took over 400 at a golf tournament this last weekend and am now redoing all of my images for my Etsy shop! I really can't understand why I didn't appreciate the bark on a tree, a blade of grass, an individual flower stem or catching someone on film when they are not looking before.....I thoroughly love it. I thought I would share pics of my art studio which was originally supposed to be an office - hence the warm orange color! The art doesn't look so spectacular on this particular color but I figure I'll repaint it someday. For now it is just awesome to have a designated place to leave everything out and pick up where I left off each time. I've had people call or stop by wanting to come look and everything was in stacks or leaned up against each other making for an uncomfortable visit to look at artwork you are trying to sell! Needless to say - it is 100% better and now I can get back to networking online.....oh, I mean painting! Until next time......

Getting into Blogging!

My mom is such an inspiration to me and alot of others around her - she is the one who has been so hip on getting a blog started, so I thought if my mom is in the year 2008, I'd better get a move on and get into it too! She has encouraged me in doing my artwork which honestly, I just started a few years ago. I have painted as a form of therapy and has it ever worked! Anyway, with that being said, I have all of these paintings I have done and kept in my studio until there is not enough room to move around in anymore so I now have a shop at http://kellyvanhook.etsy.com/ and am having a ball with it! Such a great outlet for all of us and if you are new to etsy and have some feedback or tips, I hope you will share them!

I am in real estate full-time but have the schedule I need to do some other things that are really important to me. I think that is really important to all of us and we need to be able to work it all in somehow during this one shot at life we all get. Thanks for reading!
